To get the share link or embed code for a Kanopy video, follow these steps:

1. Click on the video you want to share.

2. Beneath the title, you'll see options including "+ My List," "Share," "Create Clip/Playlist," and "More..." Choose the option that says Share.

3. There are options to share on various social media platforms, or from the text box below the social media icons, you can copy and paste the link to the video.

4. If you are embedding the video into Blackboard, click embed to get the embed code.

And because of your access to Kanopy through ICC Library, creating an account doesn't cost you a penny! You just need a valid email.

Once you've created an account, you'll have your own

• dashboard
• watchlist
• viewing history
• playlists
• memberships

To add a video to your watchlist, follow these steps:

1. You'll need to create an account so that you can save videos to a watchlist.

2. One option is to mouse over the title on the Kanopy home screen. Click the button that says "+ My List."

3. The other option is to click on the video, and click the button beneath the title that says "+ My List."

Note: Some videos require you to confirm that you are 18 or older. 

To create a playlist in Kanopy, follow these steps:

*There are two different ways to create a playlist. The first set of instructions is for creating a playlist from your dashboard from scratch. The second set of instructions is for creating a playlist using the video you need as a starting point.

Creating a playlist from your dashboard:

1. Go to your dashboard.

2. You can click either "My Playlists" from the top navigation bar OR where you see "[a number] Playlists."

3. Click the box that says "Create a new playlist."



4. Name your playlist and click "Create playlist."

5. Once your playlist has been created, you'll be taken to a page that says "No data" and "Click here to add a new clip." Click to add a new clip, and type in the title you're looking for. Click the video to add it to your list.

6. If you want the entire video in your playlist, that's it! You're done. If you want to edit the description of the video or clip it down to just a section of the video, click the Edit button to the right of the video.

7. Now you can give your clip a new title and/or enter a description of your clip.

8. If you want to specify a shorter clip length, scroll down after you enter your description. There's a box for start time and stop time where you can either enter in the times by typing them in, OR you can play the video and click capture where you want to start and click capture where you want to stop.

9. When you have narrowed down your clip time, click Save clip.

10. After you've saved your clip, you'll be brought back out to the edit playlist page. If you're happy with the changes, click Save changes. This takes you back to your playlists page.

Creating a new playlist from a video:

1. Click on the video, and beneath the title, click on Create Clip/Playlist.

2. If you already created a playlist, you'll see that option listed. Otherwise, you'll be prompted to name your new playlist. Do this and click Create.

3. After you click Create, you'll see your new playlist listed with any other playlists you've already created.

How to use Kanopy's built-in citation tool:

Beneath the title of a video, near the Share and Creat Clip/Playlist buttons, click ...More. Then, click Citation tool. The options are APA, MLA, Chicago, and Harvard.

Don't forget to let your students know that they should still check the citation for accuracy!
