Reading List Plugin for Canvas

This guide is for instructors to provide assistance with using and creating ICC Library Reading Lists.

Add Reading List Items to a Page in Canvas

A popular way to share reading list content with students is through a Canvas page. You can add individual items from your reading list to a Canvas Page. Reading list content can be added to a Canvas Page with text or other external tools.

Tip: Look for the Plug-in icon in the Page textbox editor.

Select Modules from the Canvas Course Navigation menu. Locate the desired Module and add a Page

Click on the plus + to open the menu.

Use the dropdown menu to select Page and determine if you want to Create Page or open an existing page. Click on Add Item. If creating a new page, key in the Page Name before clicking on Add Item.

Open the Page. Click on Edit.

After selecting Edit, the text box editor will open. Locate the plug icon  and select ICC Library Reading List

Select content items to add to the Page. Click on the radio buttons to select content items.

You can select the entire list, section, or individual items. Items from different sections can be added to the Page.

You have the option to change the link label. Simply key in the label that you'd like your students to see. For example - View Website, View Video, Open Video, etc.

Click Select.

Reading List items will display on the Page in the text editor. Scroll down and select Save.

Your page may look like this:
