There are two ways for faculty to initiate the roll over process:
Roll Over from the Quick Start Welcome Menu
a. Create a reading list in your Blackboard course using the TLI tool link in Blackboard
b. From the Quick Start Welcome Menu select the Rollover Option
c. Select the course whose reading list you want to roll over. Enter the name of the course or the code. You should see your course pop-up. Select the course that you would like to roll over.
d. Once your course is selected, select your rollover configuration. The defaults are set but faculty have the ability to Reset or Copy various facets of their reading list. Select the configuration values and click “Roll Over.”
The Facets and Default Settings are:
• Citation Statuses: Recalculate
• Copyright: Recalculate
• Due dates: Reset
• Instructor-Library Tags: Copy
• Library-Internal Tags: Copy
• List and Section Dates: Reset
• Do you want existing permalinks to point to the new list once the list is published: Yes*
• Public Note: Copy*
• Public Tags: Copy
• Reading List Collaborators: Copy*
• Reading List Status: Rolled Over
• Student Discussions: Reset
• Syllabus: Copy
e. Confirm that you would like to rollover the course. The confirmation screen includes the list name and the course that it will be rolled over to. It also includes a note about permalinks. Our current settings point existing permalinks to the new list.
Select “OK”
f. Final screen is “Rollover successful”
Roll Over from an Existing Course
a. Navigate to the course/reading list that you plan to roll over.
b. Locate the Reading List Menu, Select “Roll Over list”
c. Select the course to which to roll over this list. *Tip: Search for your “new course” the destination that you want to roll this reading list over to. You must have already created a new course to complete the rollover process.
Type the course name or code and select from the drop-down options.
d. Once your course is selected, select your rollover configuration. The defaults are set but faculty have the ability to Reset or Copy various facets of their reading list. Select the configuration values and click “Roll Over.”
*Identifying a New Course During the Rollover Process:
A faculty member must identify a new course during the rollover process. This means that their new course must be set-up in Blackboard before choosing to rollover the old list. The faculty must create the new course using the LTI feature in Blackboard before rolling over the old list.
e. Confirm that you would like to rollover the course. The confirmation screen includes the list name and the course that it will be rolled over to. It also includes a note about permalinks. Our current settings point existing permalinks to the new list.
Select “OK”
f. Final screen is “Rollover successful”
